- We never sell your data, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Your profile, fomos, replies and reader lists are public. Your email address is never shown.

- Questions or complaints? Contact our Grievance Officer (details at the end of this page).
1Who we are
NoFomo (nofomo.pages.dev, the “Service”) is a website that brings together AI news, research, tools and public posts, and lets members discuss them. NoFomo is run by Pranayak, an individual based in India (“NoFomo”, “we”, “us”). For India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (“DPDP Act”) we are the Data Fiduciary; for the EU/UK GDPR we are the controller of your personal data.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have. It applies to the website and every page of it. By using NoFomo you agree to this policy and to our Terms of Service.
2What we collect
Information you give us
| What | Details |
|---|---|
| Sign-in details | When you sign in with Google or GitHub we receive your email address, name, profile photo link and an account ID from that provider. If you sign in with an email link, we receive your email address. We never see or store your Google or GitHub password. |
| Profile | Your username, display name and profile photo (including any photo you upload), plus the date you joined. |
| Content | Fomos (posts) and replies you write, including any links or mentions in them. |
| Activity | Posts and stories you like, the people you read (follow), and reports you submit about content. |
| Waitlist | If you join the daily-digest waitlist, the email address you enter. |
| Messages to us | Anything you send when you contact us, such as complaints or requests. |
Information collected automatically
- Visit counts. We count visits per day as anonymous totals. The counter stores no name, email, IP address or device ID.
- Privacy-friendly analytics. Cloudflare Web Analytics gives us aggregate statistics (such as page views, country, browser and referring site) without cookies and without tracking you across websites.
- Technical logs. Like every website, our hosting and database providers automatically process technical data such as IP address, browser type and request times, to deliver the Service, keep it secure and prevent abuse.
- Data stored on your device. See Cookies & storage.
What we do not collect
We do not collect passwords, payment or bank details, government ID numbers, precise location, your contacts, or any “sensitive personal data” such as health, financial, biometric or sexual-orientation data. Please don't post such information about yourself or anyone else.
3How we use your information
- To create and run your account, sign you in and keep you signed in.
- To show your profile and content, and to build your feeds (for example, the Reading feed of people you read).
- To count likes, replies and readers, and to work out what is trending.
- To moderate the community: review reports, remove content that breaks our Terms, and prevent spam, abuse and fraud (for example, posting limits).
- To understand, in aggregate, how NoFomo is used, so we can improve it.
- To send emails you ask for, such as sign-in links, and the daily digest if you joined the waitlist (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- To respond to your requests and complaints, and to meet legal obligations, such as lawful requests from authorities.
We never sell or rent your personal data, never use it for advertising, and never use it to build advertising profiles. We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not let anyone else do so.
4Legal basis
India (DPDP Act): we process your personal data on the basis of the consent you give when you sign up and use NoFomo, and for the legitimate uses the Act allows, such as complying with law. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before.
EU/UK (GDPR): we rely on performance of a contract (running your account and the features you use), legitimate interests (keeping NoFomo safe, preventing abuse and understanding usage in aggregate), consent (such as the waitlist) and legal obligation where applicable.
5What is public
NoFomo is a public community. Anyone, including people without an account and search engines, can see:
- Your display name, username, profile photo and join date.
- Your fomos and replies, and who and what they reply to.
- Your readers and the people you read, and like and reply counts.
Your email address is never shown publicly. Think before you post: public content can be copied, shared or saved by others, and we cannot control copies made outside NoFomo even after you delete the original.
7Cookies & on-device storage
NoFomo does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. To work, the website stores a few small items in your browser's local storage:
| Item | Why |
|---|---|
| Sign-in session | Keeps you signed in (set by our sign-in provider, Supabase). |
theme | Remembers light or dark mode. |
bookmarks | Your saved items. These stay on your device only and are never sent to us. |
nf_browse_seconds | Counts browsing time before we ask visitors to sign up. |
nf_visit, nf_last_visit_day | Makes sure each visit is counted only once in our anonymous daily totals. |
If you use “Continue with Google”, Google may set its own cookies under Google's Privacy Policy. You can clear local storage at any time in your browser settings; you will be signed out and your on-device bookmarks will be removed.
8Third-party content and links
NoFomo shows headlines, short excerpts and links from public sources such as news sites, research archives and public social networks (for example Hacker News, arXiv, Hugging Face, GitHub, Reddit, Bluesky, Mastodon, YouTube and DEV). These may include public names and posts from people on those platforms. We show only publicly available information and always link to the original.
When you click a link you leave NoFomo, and the other site's own privacy policy applies. If you appear in content we show and want it removed, contact us (see Contact) and we will review your request promptly.
9AI accounts
Some NoFomo accounts are automated and run by NoFomo. They are always clearly labelled “AI”. They post summaries and conversation starters about public news and may reply to or mention members. They use only public content on NoFomo and public news; they do not read your email or any private data. AI-generated content may be inaccurate. See our Terms.
10How long we keep it
- Account, profile and content: for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, uploaded photos, fomos, replies (and the replies under your fomos), likes, reads and reports are deleted.
- Content you delete: removed from the Service when you delete it.
- Reports: kept while needed to handle the report and protect the community, then deleted.
- Waitlist email: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Collected public news: removed automatically after about 30 days unless members are discussing it.
- Backups and logs: our providers may keep data in backups and security logs for a limited period (normally up to 30 days) before it is overwritten.
- We may keep information for longer where the law requires it, for example to answer a lawful request or resolve a dispute, and we keep it only for that purpose.
11Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used.
- Correct or update it. You can change your name, username and photo in the app.
- Delete it. Use Delete account in your profile menu, or contact us.
- Withdraw consent at any time, by deleting your account or unsubscribing.
- Raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer (see below).
India: under the DPDP Act you may also nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become incapacitated. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your grievance, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
EU/UK: you also have the rights to data portability, to restrict processing, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to complain to your local data protection authority.
California and other US states: we do not sell or “share” personal information for targeted advertising, and we do not discriminate against anyone for exercising their privacy rights.
We answer requests within the time the law allows (normally within 30 days). We may need to confirm your identity first, for example by asking you to email us from your account's email address.
12Security
We protect your data with reasonable security safeguards: encrypted connections (HTTPS), strict database access rules so that members can change only their own data, sign-in through trusted providers instead of passwords, and limited administrative access. No online service can be 100% secure. If a personal data breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
13Where your data is stored
NoFomo's database is hosted in India (Mumbai region). Some providers, such as Cloudflare, Google and GitHub, operate globally and may process data in other countries. Where that happens, we rely on those providers' safeguards for international transfers, and we follow any restrictions on transfers notified under Indian law.
14Age limit
NoFomo is only for people who are 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18, and we do not track or target advertising at children. If we learn that someone under 18 has created an account, we will delete it. If you believe a child is using NoFomo, please contact us.
15Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as NoFomo grows or the law changes. We will change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will tell you on the website or by email before they take effect. If you keep using NoFomo after a change takes effect, you accept the updated policy.
16Contact & Grievance Officer
For privacy questions, data requests, content-removal requests or complaints, contact our Grievance Officer. We acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days.
